Option to report places that steal or inherit the listing of a previously established place

I just noticed a new sushi shop near the office reused the Maps listing of the sushi shop that was there before, despite the fact that the new owners aren't the previous ones. This means they inherited all the pictures and ratings of the previous place despite being brand new. The issue I'm having now is that there's no way to fix this. I can't mark it as closed because it's the new place.

There needs to be an option to report cases like this. What are your thoughts?

Why wouldn't you just mark the place as closed and open a new one there @PLPeeters? That is the correct thing to do. The new business is not the old business.

@PaulPavlinovich Because it already has all the information of the new place, which makes it weird to mark it as closed. If I were to see something like this in the edit review queue I probably wouldn't understand it and mark the edit as being wrong, hence my idea for a new report category.

I would still mark it closed @PLPeeters - the history of the place with a new name and new contact information would tell the story to the edit moderator (if it ever got that far).

Status changed to: Closed

Hi @PLPeetersthank you for sharing this idea. It is not something the team is able to implement at this time; therefore, I will change the status to "Closed".
