Meet-up Alerts for Local Guides

Local Guides come from all walks of life, most of us very enthusiastic about every bit of the program, but without the luxury of constantly checking the meet-up board to see what's being hosted near us. That's why I think we should get the option of signing up for meet-up notifications in our registered Local Guide locations, that way, when a meet-up is hosted by someone within so short a period, you simply get an  email message informing you about the hosted meet-up near your location and you decide if it fits into your calendar or not.

Hi,

I have been thinking of ways to encourage and motivate more meet-ups and attendance.

I suggest connect moderators can do an automatic email message to everyone in the community where a meet-up is to be hosted.

2. Perks can be given to those who host and those who attend meet-ups. Perks increases as per number of meet-up one organises or attends.

3. Pop up messages on local guides page for meet-ups within his community.

Hi @AnitaAO and thanks for your suggestion. I'm going to merge your idea with this other one, which is very similar.

In addition, for future ideas, it's best if they are more precise, because sending an email, giving perks and showing pop-ups are very different things. And, for instance, we don't know how many Local Guides communities there are, so we cannot show any pop-ups. As for the perks, that would be better in the Perks category 😉

This is a needed feature if you want to make the meet-ups effective. This guarantee that all are informed about the same.

Also  on the statistics of LGC, there can be two more options

No of Meetups Conducted

No of Meetups Attended

@LuisRG, thank you for your reply, but I still maintain that emails can be sent, and about knowing numbers of communities there are, certain measures that can be used to get these facts,...

I am happy you accepted perks can encourage meet-ups, i am not concerned where the perks could be but that local guides earn it!

I commend the great job you are doing.

Cheers!

In this case I'm keeping them separated, @ErmesT, because it's not the same showing a notification than sending an email, even if we want the same outcome

I love the idea!
It could follow the new Beta interface of Google Flights, where you can Track prices. For Meetup we should be able to Track a Location! 🗺

I would love it if I could opt in to be notified about Meetups that have been announced within 50km of my "home" city that I've nominated. The Meetup system on Maps is awesome except that it is very hard without constantly searching to find things that you're interested in. Comparable systems like Meetup, EventBrite, g+ Events, FB Events all have options to be able to subscribe to things that are announced near you.

Yes! I support this motion with an additional comment.  We should be able to specify more than one area.  For example, I am in Westchester County but I can participate in Meet-Ups in Manhattan as well.

that would be a really good option which leads LG one step further. Eagerly wants this
