Before I started using Google Maps some years ago, I was a big Garmin GPS user and one of the key feature of Garmin GPS navigators is a feature called Junction View, along with another lesser feature called Lane Assist. I don't know if the terms or features are trademarked or not, but it is a very useful feature when navigating especially when I come up to a junction with multiple exits or turns.
With this feature, when I am nearing a junction, a small section on the screen tells me which lane to stick to, as well as a new split screen opens with a photo-realistic view of the junction with a bright arrow telling me where to turn to.
Google Maps which already has Street View in many countries, as well as the new upcoming Visual Positioning System (VPS) can easily incorporate these both features for navigation in Google Maps.
I am requesting for this because even today, sometimes I turn into wrong exits when using navigating on Maps. This extra feature will help. We obviously need to name it something unique to Google rather that the term used by other companies.
Screenshot of a Garmin navigator and a public video sample from YouTube as explanations below. (Sorry for the YouTube video having some ads in front, please ignore it, it's just a sample which shows the feature clearly, if this is an issue, I can record my own video to replace it).
Constructive comments from everyone will be useful.
