Identification of the original place when reporting a duplicate listing in Google Maps

Actually, when we suggest an edit for a duplicate place, Google Maps is giving a list of "possible" places, that can potentially be the original listing

If we suggest a place to be flagged, it means that we know where the original place is.

So it would be better to have the possibility for adding the link to the "original listing", with the possibility  for searching it, like we can do now when adding a photo

This is a great idea @ErmesT , selecting the original place for a duplicate place marked will potentially reduce spam .

Level 8

@ErmesT Correct yes and doing away with the word Duplication from Google Maps  in concept is a possibility of no longer being the known "noun"  by all means, Links is a much better   "noun"

I totally agree with this multiple locations pop up!

This makes me sad @PoliMC

Btw, with the future updated, we will hopefully see an improvement.

Thank you for the feedback

Hello all,

When I am removing a place on Google Maps and indicate "duplicated of another place" as the reason, Google Maps offers me some options. However, once a while, Google Maps is not able to show the correct place. So I select "none of the above," and my suggestion is submitted.

My idea is that once a user chooses "none of the above," it would open a search on Google Maps, allowing him/her to select the correct place.

It would help Google more confidently check the suggestion.

Best regards

Hi @AlexandreCampbell,

Thanks for sharing with us! : ]

Regarding the idea, it would seem that it was suggested previously in the post, Identification of the original place when reporting a duplicate listing in Google Maps, kindly shared by @ErmesT.

Do feel free to check the regarded link out, as for the moment I have also relocated the suggestion there for keeping ideas orderly.

As I found a duplicate place. I went to suggest an edit option and I choose remove this place. I picked duplicate of another place as the reason for removal. It showed me some place name to pick as of it original place. I did not found the original one. There is a option none of the above. But there can be a search option for the original place for what I am suggesting the removal of duplicate place. But there is no option of search. 😟

So I am suggesting that there should be a option of searching for the original place.
