How to write quality content for Connect...

...(and get some exposure for that?)

When I wrote this Idea: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/All-Ideas/quot-Recent-quot-filter-only-shows-threads-in-first-...

I had this situation in mind:

What a messWhat a mess

Connect 2.0 is not for quality content creators.

This is the situation of photography area in main page of Local Guides Connect, just 5 minutes after I've finished publishing this thread: https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Italian-Aeronautic-Museum-Vigna-di-Valle/m-...

Took a lot of hours producing images, many time creating the thread, and now is already buried under spam, unrelevant topics, and so on.

That's why I'm asking to put a standard filter on main topics with LAST POST TIMESTAMP and not LAST THREAD TIMESTAMP; this could help quality content to be "featured" by crowd.

Sorry for being auto-referring to my content, this is only an example, many many great quality threads are buried in Connect 2.0, and many great Local Guides are really tired of this.

Thanks for your attention

Thanks a lot team, seems that something is changin: in Photography view in home page I've noticed that old posts, with new replies are shown before others, so seems that some chronological order based on the last post timestamp is applied.

I think that this, and another dedicated filter button, could help quality and interesting content to pop out.

@LucioV, Hi. First I thought that this looks now so fresh and new WoW! But then I saw/remwmber your writing and now I am thinking absolute opposite. It is unfortunately so true what You did say. 😶

Hi @LucioV. We've updated our topic areas so that when you are looking at posts, you can sort by the following (in addition to the other options):

Trending posts are posts with the most comments & likes in the last 30 days.

Recent posts are posts that were written or commented on in the last 30 days

Thanks for the feedback!

Note: Due to the volume of private messages Googlers receive, I do not read or respond to private messages. Please post publicly so others may benefit from your discussion. If you require urgent assistance, please tag a Google Moderator. Thank you!.

I'm very happy @TraciC, not only for the change, that I think will be really appreciated, but also for an Idea Exchange that went through the whole approval process, from voting to implementation.

Thanks a lot!!!!!

@LucioV

I also agree that as a long-term member of this forum, as a software engineer and as a master photographer that you would make an excellent Local Connect Moderator, particularly since you have  already been contributing so many in-depth tutorials to this forum for some considerable time and are prepared to respond to reasonable questions openly and honestly .

If there was some form of electoral process then I am sure you would be the most popular candidate but as things stand you will have to be "invited" by the existing team and so I guess that means that you will have to wait for them to contact you.

Good Luck with this if becoming a moderator (and eventually a Googler) is of any interest to you ...

@LucioV Great,sharp idea. Agreed.

@TraciC The priority criteria somehow feel too generalized and leave space for bias.

At the moment, can suggest at least one way to include as judging criteria, as follows:

The stature & performance level of people giving likes or commenting positively on the post under scrutiny for quality, can be taken into consideration. I mean LG level at Map & by connect activity standards, Googler, moderator & so on.. It can be bit undemocratic & cliche.. you know not counting heads but brains/works..

This can be done in subtle ways to avoid hard feelings. But this will increase the work load on connect organizers 🙂

Yes, it is sound and useful

@LucioV

Thank you for the post. You are right.

I think Googler take a step about the matter.
