Google authorized local guide instructor

Hello everyone,
I am considering holding courses to Introductory local guides in the future.
In order to gain certain confidence from the citizen and the administration, I think that it is desirable that a proof of Google certification exists for the instructor.
It is equivalent to Google Trusted Photographer and level badge. It is not a card or a paper certificate.

This post does not discuss local guide certification other than instructor certification.

Instructors can receive education with e-learning like Google Digital Workshop.

  1. Google will open courses online to foster instructors and we will pass it.
  2. Obtain the title of Google certified instructor.
  3. Open a civic lecture with Connect Meet-up.

Contents of Introductory Course

  • How to use Google Maps
  • How to register a local guide
  • How to Write a Review
  • About Google policy
  • Volunteer policy
  • About usage of words on the Internet, slander, spam
  • Demonstration on the street

Hi @YasumiKikuchi

There is training material and presentation material already available. You can download a sample slide deck. This is a huge deck with slides for just about anything you can think of. The suggested approach is to take the slides you need and make them into your own deck. Remember that the decks contains Google IP and you must not modify the look and feel of slides or add/remove logos.

Google have repeatedly said that they will not issue any kind of certifcation or identification for Local Guides.

Hi, @PaulPavlinovich
Thank you for providing information on the materials.
I think that a certificate as a document is unnecessary.
For example, have you already discussed lecturers' badges like level or certified photographer?

Fantastic Idea.... this is and ought be mandatory....even regulatory compliance.....so many many many Time wasters here..... Google can move all the local comment makers to another area....I have worked in Tourism......and I know how the mechanism functions... Here at Google it is fun for me as I am retired and always helping and welcoming people.... Good day from Monsoons in Thailand!

Hi @Hash

Thank you for your reply!

Interest in lifelong learning is increasing in the world. We will be aggressive in learning something from instructors. The advantage to learn from lecturers is in internet manners. We will be able to increase the quality of the Google map and local guide.

I am definitely on board with this. A few weeks ago I had to pull aside a Google Guide who was takeing pictures in a restaurant. He was accepting drinks & food as like payment, taking pictures of people of different ages without their permission and just being disruptive. I asked him a few questions and he got upset with me He then told me he worked for Google and to leave him alone so he could do his job. Long story short, Lv 2 Guide meet Lv 6 Guide (me)former Law Enforcement Officer. We talked and I do not think he will ever act like that again. I apologized to the manger an we left. I have been told about this kind of thing happing before. We need to make a way to stop this from happening in the future. If we start some type of classes please contact me and I will help for #Louisville, Ky USA.

Thank you for your opinion @PinkytheCow
Reference to manners needs to be cautious.
Strict regulations deprive freedom of expression. However, we think that we can share a minimum manners awareness.

Google wants us to create a program supervised by the manner professional and show us guidelines. Then, use e-learning so that we train us to be instructors.
