En route service

I was on a road trip yesterday, and I suddenly came up with this idea that google maps should introduce now. I think it will be amazing if we have a feature called " En route services " which will give you an option through which you would know about the distance and exact location of the facilities that are following your route. Such as, How far is a medical shop on the route you follow (not anywhere nearby). It will be very easy to search for restrooms, restaurants, KFC, McDonald, automobile services, petrol stations and what not without turning your car around to search for a particular thing while traveling.

If I understand your request correctly, this exists right now. Just begin a route, and tap the magnifying glass. When you complete a search for anything, you'll be presented with results biased to your route. You'll also know how long of a detour it is, along with a button to add it as a stop once you tap on any of the options.

It's a great feature and I use it often!

Note: This works best with driving directions on the Google Maps app on your phone.

Thank you for sharing the idea.

It is true what @fog had mentioned, that this idea already existed. You can access that function directly on Google Maps. 

I will be closing this idea.
