Top Local Guides list by Country or City

Hello! 

Dear all Local Guides.

This is about the Connect community. When we are searching by country/city to find our nearby Local Guides it show a thousand of post/answers. Its not easy to find our expected result from the connect community. So if we have a list or feature for top Local Guides by City or county it would be a great one. It will be selected by their total contributions,regular activity and quality contributions for Maps and Connect. Hope Local Guides team consider this feature for all and I need our fellows vote for this as a support .

Creo que sería una idea muy buena si a través de connect pudieras "conectar" con otros local guides de tu ciudad, es decir, que te muestre que otros LG se encuentran activos en tu ciudad y puedas conectar y entablar conversación con ellos. Actualmente se puede hacer eso buscando un post de tu ciudad pero no es la misma.

It's a really good suggestion since the name is localguidesconnect it should let us 'connect' according to our city/country as well 🙂

Hi, I actually don't like this idea because we get enough problems with people gaming the system to get points, imagine how much worse it might get if people could see a public leader board.

To achieve something similar, the Googlers have access to the stats, they could choose from amongst the high achievers from Maps who are also on Connect and feature that person, perhaps one person from a defined region each month. This would be safer because a quick glance at the profile usually shows the difference between an awesome LG and a points scammer.

I agree.  I pretty much know who some of the local guides are in my area but have no seamless means of tagging them here on Connect or otherwise.

@PaulPavlinovich We cant judge everythings with the gaming !! It will be easier to find our area Local Guides. It will be an encouragemnt where Local Guides are not contributing for benefits.

Otherwise It is my idea only Local Guides team may consider this with their update ideas.

Otherwise we can share some more creteria for this, like- last month active Local Guides list by City or Country.

I see many new ideas on this boards which are not easy to consider but i hope Local Guides team will take some step to consider these to make the Connect community more attrative. Coz we see many Local Guides are active on other social sites and groups but they are not regular here...

@YK1001 the critera should be based on

A) the quality of the reviews and images

B) how helpful the review is

@PaulPavlinovich I agree with you regarding individual scammers and to a certain extent choosing not one but perhaps the top five best based qalitatively and not quantitatively.

i.e., from 1 <- 10 ->

1st. the quality of the reviews

2nd quality of images

3rd. 2 points for image description

 4th. how helpful the review is

 5th.  number of likes (note however that the majority of people never say thanks. Therefore the number of likes should always count as 5 points each in this scale).

This should apply to a county. Top 5 in a county.

Nevertheless and notwithstanding the above what we really need at the end of the day is to be able to connect seamlessly with our local area fellow guides.  This is useful when organizing Meet-Ups.

for an automatic rating system for massive data, only the "hard counters" can be used.

So:

1.  We can recommend which existing counters to be used.  For multiple counters, and the weighting among them.

2.  We can recommend what new counters being added.

Or, Connect should just provie a Report Generator, such that we can select which count to use and generate a report.  

May be the most popular types of reports will become a permenant leaderboard in Connect.
