I've already shared this idea when I was at Connect Live 2018 break out sessions. Currently, Google Maps is advertising some companies like Uber, Lyft, booking.com, etc. What if you also allow local small business like bars, malls and restaurants. A geo targeted advertisement from a local business is a win-win situation for both users and business around the area. The business owner can lure customers and the customers will be informed. Here's an example: a bar owner is having a happy hour, if Google Maps can have a button for the owner to fire those ads then the Google Maps users around the area or city can receive a push notification that his bar will running a happy hour.
With this, we should also need to consider the user preference. Give user's an option to receive this kind of advertisement. Also, give those business owners a limit so it won't be abused.
