Adding platform no. On local trains transit

Hello Googlers,

I recently shifted to Mumbai,India

As I am new to this place most of the time I depend on Google maps for transit and to explore the city.

I was very much happy using google maps as it guided during the exploring the city.

As local train is believed to be lifeline of the city ,I thought of taking local train from Thane to Mulund .. all route to station and timing of trains was properly shown on maps,but I found difficult in finding the platform No. ,there was nearly 8-10 platforms in Thane station .

If platform No. Was added on Google maps it will be more accurate and hassle free.

Anyways I caught the right platform after enquiring some local people.

If platform No. Is added along with timing it will help millions.

Hope you will add this feature in your future updates.

I'm totally agree with you @ShravanJain

Recently I've visited Mumbai twist In month and I've faced problem to find proper platform on Google maps. If maps add platform number it's very easy to find out and it's saving our time.

Hello everyone,

I recently added my idea of adding platform number while taking local trains of Mumbai on idea exchange platform last week..And fortunately many people liked my idea and want it to be featured in future Google maps updates.

My question is did Googlers come across my post?? And I also got some descent upvote

Also I didn't find general discussion platform to discuss these kind of  things in New Connect forum.

Platform number is something i belive is Dynamic , most of the times it is static but due to the railway convience they often change the platform  number of the train so showing such dynamic data in maps is difficult or not possible unless google maps ties up with IRCTC . Still if there was a option would be helpful .

You did the right thing in adding your idea in there @ShravanJain, because Idea exchange is the place for sharing ideas. You do not find a place in here for adding this because the place is the one that you already mentioned. Googlers are reading all ideas, they will reply in due time.

So this post too should be merged in there @GeorgesHR

As a personal note, all related to transit is managed in a separate layer https://maps.google.com/landing/transit/index.html) so I don't see the possibility to mixing it with the layer where we Local Guides can operate.

Hi @ShravanJain thanks for sharing your idea. This would work in some places where the platforms were consistent. This is sometimes the case in some countries but I've noticed during my travels that it isn't common. I have also noticed that sometimes Maps actually does give a platform. As an example the trains from Melbourne to Sydney in Australia do show a Platform so perhaps it is a matter of the right information getting to Google when it is consistent.

I am talking about Mumbai local train (sub urban) whose platform is constant and only changes if there is a emergency.

If platform number is showed in Google maps it will help more than 5 million daily commuters.
