Adding platform no. On local trains transit

Hello Googlers,

I recently shifted to Mumbai,India

As I am new to this place most of the time I depend on Google maps for transit and to explore the city.

I was very much happy using google maps as it guided during the exploring the city.

As local train is believed to be lifeline of the city ,I thought of taking local train from Thane to Mulund .. all route to station and timing of trains was properly shown on maps,but I found difficult in finding the platform No. ,there was nearly 8-10 platforms in Thane station .

If platform No. Was added on Google maps it will be more accurate and hassle free.

Anyways I caught the right platform after enquiring some local people.

If platform No. Is added along with timing it will help millions.

Hope you will add this feature in your future updates.

I agree with your proposal but if the trains in India are anything like those in the UK there are so often last-minute changes in terms of the platforms and very little consistency in how it is done - particularly at the larger stations.

That is why at London Paddington and Euston and so many of the mainline hubs there are crowds of people watching the overhead screens to find out where their train is likely to be located.

Once it appears there is usually a mass rush to the platform to get a seat since so many of the services are now standing-room only.

Hope you are doing well.

I am talking about suburban trains of Mumbai and other suburban trains of India.

There is app called M-indicator which shows train timing along with platform no.and I refer that every time I travel.

And percentage of accuracy is 100%.

certainly it will help a lot. in Mumbai people are not that helpful so it's difficult to find the right platform  good idea. 👍👍👍👍

Thank you all for your 50+ upvotesupfor my idea and valuable comments.

ItsI been more than month for this idea,but I didn't got any confirmation that my idea will be implemented or it's rejected.

Did googlers saw my idea ..!?

If they didn't like the idea ..do they say that or just leave it ignored.

@ShravanJain...it's a great idea, but I'm trying to picture how it would actually be implemented, unless the Google team flew out and met with the Mumbai transit authority, and they had long discussions about what data would be needed, and Mumbai gave this to Google.

Perhaps one way you could help start the idea today is to publish a web page that already has this info...or work with the Mumbai transit authority yourself to get them to publish it and make it free for companies like Google to use it.

Then your request becomes really easy for Google: take the data that's already publicly available, and very parseable, and add it to Google Maps.

buy it is difficult to say particular platform for perticular train

Some times train arriving places will be changed by traffic situation
