Adding Speed Limit, and Speedometer Feature in Google Maps

Have you ever been driving down a road and just can't remember the speed limit? Then you worry if you are going to see the sheriff or a speed limit sign first forcing you to slow down. A feature that was first exposed to me from a now Google-owned app Waze can solve that issue. Google Maps needs an integrated speed limit and a speedometer widget to their app.

Why we should have it

It's an odd thing to most of us that if you want to have these features in your Google Maps you have to download 3rd party apps. Apple Maps has it, and so should Google Maps! It's a big reason why most Apple users stick to their Apple Maps. I believe that integrating this feature would send a surge of Apple users over to Google Maps. A lot of people who I have talked to have mentioned the Speed limit feature in Apple Maps is the reason they use it. I also believe that it would make us users who already love Google Maps, love it more!

The research has already been done

Apple maps, as well as other companies, have already integrated said feature. Many of the kinks and the legalities have also already been sorted, integrating this feature should be swift, and would greatly benefit the user base.

Just like Waze, alert users when there's a speed camera ahead to remind them to stay in the speed limit.

Hola! Un buen aporte para Google maps es que incorporen el velocímetro y los límites de velocidad. Tengo entendido que ya están trabajando en eso pero la implementación se demora sin razón aparente. Qué opinan?

Hi @astadiego

Thank you for sharing your idea, but the same idea had been suggested before

Therefore I merged your idea with Adding speed limit, and Speedometer feature in Google Maps because they are the same idea.

Hi @astadiego

It is because it is the same idea. It does not matter in which language it is. If this idea will be implemented it will not be only for some languages but for all of them. This way the idea can get more votes and comments and therefore has a better chance of being implemented.

@VitB@AngieYC, As this feature is being implemented into Maps, is this considered implemented? or at least in progress? I currently have it in beta at least.
