Zoological garden (UNN)

In spite the fact that we hate seeing animals in restricted zone. Zoological and Botanical garden is a department in University of Nigeria which has the authority to keep animals for educational purposes. Zoology and Botanical garden

Last two years, I was able to visit this place and look at what I found.

picture of a crocodile lying in wait…

The place is now a shadow of itself. As far as we want to see animals in its natural habitat, here this animals are not properly taken care of.

@Chiazodo and I wanted to see the giant python but the Zoo guard told us the Python is an animal that determines the time it wants to be seen. Mr Okonkwo wanted to see it, I actually hate snakes. The Lion and Tiger has been moved.

All in all it was an amazing experience. Though I have seen most of these animals before. :grin:

I would like to ask @OlgaKlimchik @mockata2 @Izumi @user_not_found @Anil6969 @Ale_003 @Ant_Bad_Yogi @Ritamega @Muhammad_Usman which wild animals have you seen, what kind of wild animals are seen in your locality

@Austinelewex @ i must commend your courage visiting the local zoological garden. Dating back from high school and when we visited chino’s family garden , you were scared of coming close to the alligator…well let me blame it on age and maturity guess you were still young then :blush: . Nice one i must say; but wanted to ask why are the crocks looking so pale and white

Nice experience @Austinelewex , so this two ugly animals are left remaining in the zoo?. That locality is my home town and I hate to see the zoo in that deplorable condition. I wish the University can do something about putting animals there.

@JoegatesChidi

The water there is stagnant. It is like a swamp or a lake, the Zoo keeper only chances the water from time to time.

You should know it is not actually their natural habitat.

I approached to snap this crocodiles because I believe they are unable to harm me @JoegatesChidi , back then at chino’s place that was an alligator which is kept as pet. I can’t try that dude. :rofl: :joy:

It has not been like that since the last time I visited. When I went there in 2012, the places has lots of animals. I guess it had a baby elephant.

I wish the place can get back to its glory before.

It is an amazing place especially for young children to see these animals in which they are taught in schools live.

Thank you So much for @MrBest

@Austinelewex I was really disappointed when the Zoo guide said we couldn’t see the python. I haven’t seen one before and that would have been the big opportunity. You remember the chimpanzee? That was the only fascinating sighting for me :joy: . Hopefully the zoo will be revitalized.

But it was never a bad idea you know. It didn’t harm me either. Though i was scared but i used inner courage.

I cannot remember the exact year when I visited the zoo for the last time! @Austinelewex I do not like to see the animals in the cage and it is a reason for my not going to the zoo frequently. Anyway, your photos of zoo animals are great. I love the second one, white crocodiles. Are they really white?

@MukulR

Really sad to hear.

The crocodiles are not actually white, the stagnant water made them so.

Best regards.

Are the crocodiles kept in open space ?

Why are the white in colour in one image?

Btw thanks for sharing this post my friend @Austinelewex

My dear Ola @FalguniP

The crocodiles are actually kept in a pool kind place. They are white because the water has not been changed.

Few years back, many animals could been seen in this place. But at of the last time I visited it wasn’t so.

Right now actually I don’t know how the place is.

Thank you for checking this post Ola and thank you for the beautiful comment. :hugs:
