Tell us about your favorite place and what makes it special
My favorite place is home, where I live in Zimbabwe, Africa because of the diversity one finds there- the savannas forests, mountainous areas, Lake Kariba which is the largest man-made lake in the world (volume-wise) and one of the seven natural wonders of the world- the Victoria Falls; the big five safari animals and more as well as the real sense of community and brotherhood.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your community
The Zimbabwean community is one of the most friendly and warm communities despite what has been happening in the country with the economic meltdown; the Zimbabwean people are resilient and we exhibit what we call ubuntu, which means humanness i.e. having the human face and showing love, empathy and social and emotional intelligence despite whatever we are going through. The country had the highest inflation record ever in the world in the past two decades and I think that record has only been beaten by Venezuela in recent years.
Why are you proud to be a Local Guide?
I love to travel and I’m a foodie, so I love to talk about places and activities, and I am also outgoing and so that’s why I like to be a local guide. I like to talk about the places where I have been, and I think reviews are really helpful especially coming from those who have experienced places. Also, a lot of the places in my part of the world are not mapped and so being a Guide helps me make a significant contribution to fill that gap.
