YouTubers get money, I get nothing

YouTubers make a lot of money, but I get nothing from Google Maps! I only get badges.
I go to restaurants and pay a lot of money to order food, take photos, rate it, and put it on Google Maps, but what do I get? Nothing.
This is unfair. I’m level 7 and I go to many places to take photos and rate them, but I don’t get anything from Google Maps .
My YouTuber friend who also films the food gets a lot of money and rewards.
YouTube and Maps are owned by Google, why doesn’t Google treat us all equally?

I totally understand where you’re coming from, @MahmoudGaber, but YouTube and Google Maps are very different platforms with different goals.

YouTube is a content platform built for creators to monetize their work through ads, sponsorships, and more. It’s designed to reward content that draws views and keeps people engaged.

Google Maps, on the other hand, is a community-driven service. It relies on contributions like yours to help people discover places and make informed decisions. The rewards—badges, levels, early access to features—are more about recognition than income.

So while both are owned by Google, they’re built for completely different purposes. One is for entertainment and monetization, the other for utility and community support.

That said, if you’re already great at food reviews and photos, maybe consider uploading them to both Maps and YouTube? That way, you help people and potentially earn something from your work.

Hi, @MahmoudGaber welcome to Connect, and thanks for your post. I think we need to demystify this concept first

Do you have any ideas about what a YouTuber have to do just to monetize his channel, and to be able to get a few (not a lot) of money?

Creating YouTube content to earn money requires a little more than taking a few photos and writing a review when we go to a restaurant. Creating videos to monetize is work.

I fully agree with @Hope

Personally I rely on the contributions of other Local Guides when I want to check a place before to visit it.
And honestly I don’t go to a restaurant because I want to take photos and to write a review, but of course I take photos and write a review of the places I visit.

However, I realize that we often do not think about the benefits of being users of a service in which everyone contributes to enriching the content, and we only see one side of the coin. In fact, this is a very common topic in Connect. This is why a few years ago I wanted to invite the Local Guides of the community to reflect: G€t Paid for Our Contribution$? What could happen if that were the case?
So you want to join the conversation in there?

Hey @MahmoudGaber . Welcome to Connect. Second. GMaps can’t get you to earn money for such hard work.
