I spoke about the beginning of my ‘Local Guides’ Journey here and how ‘I feared to turn on’ Location History because I feared for my Security.
Security has always been an issue of prior concern for me especially while using Social Media. Social media arewebsites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
Over the past one month, I have used Connect more than I have used any other Social Media in the past one year, I must confess! because Connect is a form of ‘heavily regulated and strictly moderated’ Social Media. So, I stopped bothering about Security because unlike every other Social Media,‘Connect’ is in a league of its own because;
It is a ‘Professional’ Social Media. To sign up, you have to be a Local Guide. I asked someone dear to me to join this morning, she did and found herself on Level 1
There are 'healthy’ Moderators who are constantly on the look-out and the 'harsh Google Filters’
It is very organized. Each ‘post’ is immediately ‘fixed’ into its own category; ‘food’, ‘Photography’, etc.
Opportunities for learning and growth. There are meetings and training scheduled periodically.
There is a help desk
Excellent Communication; The Users are in constant interface with the Creators
Your Contribution and your opinion matters and is seen by all! Influencers are not required.
Connect is very safe!
In light of all of these, if you had to choose between your favorite Social Media and Connect, which would you choose?
Hi @Ewaade_3A , you’re right. But I’m using social media more than 10 years. So I have many friends and relatives on social media. That’s why I prefer others social media for myself. On the other hand, this forum is also my family. I can connect most beautiful, creative, helpful and friendly peoples like you. So, I can’t ignore this forum also!
Bok @Ewaade_3A . Zanimljivo pitanje!? Malu prednost dajem Facebooku. Zato jer ga koristim već 8 godina, skoro svakodnevno. Za druženje s prijateljima, poznanicima, rodbinom. Ono, već stvar rutine. I da tu većinu ljudi poznajem. Connect, to je sasvim jedna druga priča. Tu sam tek od prošle godine 2019. Još učim o njemu i upoznajem ga. Učim o ljudima, stilu života, kulturi, povijesti, turizmu, hrani, običajima… Ovdje vidim mnoštvo fenomenalnih i zadivljujućih fotki. Connect je kreativan, poučan, ozbiljan i zabavan. You can’t compare Social media with Local Connect.
Social media ,you can share and express anything or everything in the world to any known and unknown persons through public & private messages. You can have friends ,family, colleagues and everyone . Anyone can join in social media. No limitations or criteria to join
Local connect more on specific to google maps related and unwanted discussion will be taken out by moderator to keep concentrated on Google maps related and which is useful and helpful for all local guides.
This one more specific for local guides to share their views to other guides to know or understand and help to grow together as a Team
How I have missed you Nyai! Did you forget we promised to be friends?
Yes! I use Connect more because it is very safe and Connect is like the world! I mean; “there are 7 billion people in the world, if one person is angry with you, there are billions more” unlike the Social Media where the only person that can see me ‘is the person I allow to see me’.
It’s more like they are saying to me; “you are responsible for your own security o”
And look at all the new stuffs I learn here daily and all free! I love Connect@Nyainurjanah
@SHAN-Dubai Before I reply your message, let me check if you really live in Dubai, I will be visiting in October and I will like a Local Guide to show me around town, I don’t want to offend my ‘would-be’ host.

Thanks for writing such an interesting post, Iam a big fan of LinkedIn and WhatsApp and have spend many hours on these social networking platform. When the lockdown started in my city due to the Covid19 situation, I started reading the wonderful stories/posts on this beautiful Connect platform. This infact encouraged me to write my local stories, Food recipes, photography experiences on LG Connect. So, i consider the lockdown for me as a blessing in disguise to get more connected to the beautiful local guide community.
