You never know when and where your contributions will help somebody

I take a lot of pictures on my smartphone, so there is no surprise that I mostly add photos on Google Maps. I’ve added 3000 photos since 2016. And now they have more than 6 million views. Usually, I take pictures of things I am looking for in Google Maps by myself: how the cafe or restaurants looks inside, photos of dishes and menus, etc.

Just one example. Once in August 2017 during my vacation, I walked around the city of Batumi (Georgia) and decided to visit a small local museum — Adjara Art Museum. The museum wasn’t the best in the city and I was one of the rare visitors. As usual as I do — I took some pictures from there and uploaded on Google Maps. One of those photos is still the most popular and surprisingly (more than 500K views). The message is that you never know when and where your contributions will help somebody.

Besides adding photos I like checking and updating the business listing information while walking down the streets of my city. Thanks to the simplicity of the Google Maps application I can do this within the seconds. But I’m sure it will help someone to find a nice cafe, grocery shop or 24H Pharmacy nearby.

According to Google, in 2018 I was among the 1% of top local guides in Kyiv. My plan is to become a 10th level guide before the conference in November.

Can’t wait to see the most passionate local guides from all over the world in San Jose!
