A year or so ago a neighbor whom I’d helped a number of times gifted me this little camera which I’d never used before and didn’t know anything about it. It’s tiny and I thought it was just a toy so I never tried to use it. Well I decided to try it on a project that @NareshDarji is working on; it’s secret at the moment so I can’t say much more. Anyway, for this I needed a couple of bits n pieces for this DJI Pocket 2 camera and need them ASAP as not only has Naresh given me short notice about his project, just a couple of days, but also that I needed to get my part done by July 8, sheesh!!!
I spent a few hours yesterday morning searching online and on the phone trying to find a stockist of the parts I needed. No luck! Determined, I decided to take a quick trip to Melbourne CBD and visit a couple of large camera stores that I’d been to before and I was certain that they would have what I wanted. I spent close to two hours at this but again, no luck. One got on the phone to their supplier and the best they could do was a possible 10 days; it just didn’t fit in with Naresh’s time schedule! I was thankful for the rep trying but that only ended up wasting close to 30 minutes more of my time. I was now fast running out of time, I thanked the rep and was about to walk out the door, when he kindly mentioned that there was a store in Melbourne Central and if anyone had what I was chasing they would. Well with that assurance I was prepared to give it a shot.
It was now 4pm and getting awfully close to shopping close time for most stores in Melbourne’s CBD, which is a very large and busy shopping complex and transit point with Melbourne Central station! I needed Maps for this. Sadly though even with Maps it was difficult to find the store! To make it even more difficult, the store is at somewhat of an unusual/almost hidden basement type location within the Melbourne Central complex (see the first photo above) and has very little storefront signage. From memory the feature photo of the store was an internal shot of some of the products; not much help to me or anyone else for that mater in locating the store! Fast running out of time, I found the store and it took only a few minutes to get the bits I was after. I told the manager of my experience in finding the store and he said it was a common problem. With that I asked if I could take some quick shots and he gave the OK but said that as he was closing, I only had a few minutes. I took some quick shots and made sure I took a couple to give a better idea of how to find this store and what it looks like from the outside because this is what was very lacking in the 1170 reviews on Maps at that time. I posted the review and photos earlier today and whoop whoop, I’m pleased to say that one of my photos is already the feature photo of the store and I’m absolutely certain this will help others in future, find the store.
Additional to the first photo above showing the unusual basement type location of this store, here are some of the photos I took. The first one below once again shows the unusual basement location of the store but from a different perspective. This is followed by a shot of a landmark (The Melbourne Central Clock) which is directly opposite and will help others locate the store. My review mentions this and should help others find the store and this is why I chose my headline for this post, You just have to take the right photos for Maps reviews; no selfies please!!! Next I’ve included a couple of internal shots of the store. I’d be interested in your thoughts. Have you had similar experiences?
Keep guiding and
