You can take the boy out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the boy.
This proverb is true to me. I was born and grew up in Can Tho, a city in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam and moved to Australia when I was at my late 20. I love both countries for different reasons and consider them my homelands. Now my life has settled in this beautiful country and I love it wholeheartedly but I have to say nowhere in the world could make me feel the same way when it comes to my childhood and fatherland. For that reason, even now living in a modern society, my subconscious love for Vietnam is nothing different if not stronger after years. I love and miss the simple and relaxing lifestyle of farmers in a rural village, a purely friendliness of neighbours, a no plastic wrapping or container market. I miss bamboo bridges, a liitle boat quietly passing by on a peaceful channel in a sunny afternoon under the shade of water-coconut trees… nothing can replace those memories. I try my best to come back and visit my hometown as often as I can and if I am not there physically I usually go online to find photos of Vietnam to look at them so I can feel so much close to my fatherland. I was strolling on internet the other day and found these pics of Vietnam. I would like to quickly show you a glance of my fatherland. All photos are credited to Amazing Vietnam and Vietnam Travel.
Thanks for listening to my story everyone. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
@locbuuloc Beautiful photos and very interesting narration. Yes, childhood is very interesting and you will never forget it. Here you are raising a nice question. What do you mean by living in modern society? I would prefer to live in a village where I can feel happiness. What do you think?
Hello @AnuradhaP thank you for your lovely comment. I absolutely agree with you about that. I even think of going back where I am from when I am older so I can be happier. Love your words. Regards
Thank you @Selvamani_R for your very profound comnents and feedback. You are right about nature and childhood memories. It is even so when we get older. Love your words. Regards
Hello @user_not_found Vietnam is a developing country where things have begun changing fast. However it is still quite natural and not expensive yet. Things are cheap compared to many parts of the world. I think you can make it. Love your words. Regards
