You can make a difference: sharing, openness and transparency is power for a better world. My story.

Being born at the Soviet Union I remember very well the fear to share anything: your thoughts, your views, your differences.

My mom and grandma often told me: “do not share with others what you think”, “do not speak to others about what you feel”, “do not share with others what you hear at home”, “do not tell anybody about family history”.

Luckily after my country, Ukraine has got independence in 1991 I grew up in a free country where freedom of speech was not punished and even respected. But these early lessons of not sharing were imprinted into my mind…

When I get to know with Google first of all it was a convenient search tool. Then it came with a free and easy-to-use mailbox. And somehow I started to use google maps to find the places I need. I do not remember clearly how and when I started to share with local guides. But I remember pretty well my imprinted fear to share backing from USSR, it was like somebody was whispering into my mind: do not share, big brother is watching you.

But continue using Google maps one day I understand: s****haring, openness and transparency is power for a better world.

So I started my journey as Google Local Expert just ranking the places and adding the stars. Then I started to add photos of the places I visited. Pretty well I remember the message from Google: your post is making a difference.

This message inspired me to become more involved. I believe that by sharing you receive more. By these three small steps:

  1. Rank
  2. Add review
  3. Put some pictures

you make the world more open and connected, as these small steps can make a difference for small businesses, cultural & art institutions, people with disabilities or people in some needs.

Sharing your experience by reviews on Google maps you can make a difference in someone: life, business or community.

So, just three easy steps and you’ve got the power for a better world, so:

  1. Use google
  2. Rank a place you’ve been to
  3. Write the review about your experience

Share and stay connected - for an open, better world :world_map:
