Here we are back with this month’s topic - A good place for a Sunny Day. This is another unique topic given by @HiroyukiTakisawa … Although sometimes it really become annoying to spend outside on sunny days, but some activities are really worthy and useful to do in that time.
One of such activities is doing Yoga - esp. during morning time with a light sunny weather. During my week-long stay at Isha Foundation last year, I spent the whole 7 days doing Yoga after the sunrise.
As the climate of this place was quite hot, it proved to be beneficial for us. The reason was the main Yoga aasana of Surya Namaskar (Sun salutation) which is basically a set of 12 yoga poses. This aasana is immensely beneficial for our cardiovascular system.
Today (21 June) also marks the International Yoga Day and is considered to be longest day (Summer solistice). I think today is best time to write about this topic.
Some Extra Information:
Yoga is basically a component of Indian spiritual discipline. It has been derived from the Sanskrit root word “Yuj” which essentially means “to unite”. Yoga aims to bring this harmony between mind and body.
Practising Yoga doesn’t need any specific season, as it can be carried out throughout year. What I was telling in this post was Aasana(Practising Fixed Postures), which is one of the Yoga practices. There are many other practices like Niyama (Observation of Rules), Dhyana (Concentrating on the Chosen Subject), Yama (Practising Self-control), etc.
“Surya Namaskar” is the most beneficial Yoga Aasana and preferably needs to be done in early morning in front of Sun.
Yoga is definitely good for both health and mind. Though I did not have a chance to do this yet, I think I can start with youtube. This post is very relevant to both the topic- monthly topic and Yoga Day. Thanks a lot for sharing this nice post @Tushar18 . Love from Bangladesh.
Just this morning I stumbled across an article in a Bavarian newspaper called “Frankenpost” about the World Yoga Day and now I found your wonderful contribution, too. I so agree with you.
I have practiced yoga for some years now and it helps me a lot. I feel much fitter and more relaxed and even my dentist found that my jaws are not pressed together involuntarily anymore (he didn’t know that I had started to practice yoga. I only told him then).
During the lockdown here in Germany due to the Corona crisis I have integrated yoga even more in my weekly routine. I practice via video chat together with my daughter who is a student and needs some exercise for her back, shoulders and mind, too.
I can really recommend to try out yoga at any age. Start slowly and keep in mind that there is no competition and no high ambition involved. You just do it for yourself and it will make a difference.
@Tushar18 I can’t agree more, yoga is the best thing to practice on a sunny day morning. I did sun salutation for 27 rounds last week. I was sore but it’s a beauty pain. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Keep practicing.
Thank you for sharing that cool and beautiful place.
Yoga is very popular in Japan as well. In fact, I have a Yoga mat for my stretch exercise but I have never used it for Yoga. First, I’ll try to use it in its original usage
Thank you very much @MukulR brother for your lovely words. Yes, Yoga is really beneficial for both our mind and body. Though it requires patience, but it has its own long-term benefits.
Yes, there are many awesome videos and blogs available on Internet. You can refer them and please let me how you felt doing it.
Haha, Thanks for your lovely compliment @TusharSuradkar Sir …
Well, this picture is of last year and I spent the memorable time here - doing Yoga in the early mornings as well as in the evenings. The feeling was really very freshening and enriching.
Apart from Yoga, our day was occupied in doing Dhyana and some Sewa for the devotees. Actually, that week was a kind of break for me.
It’s really great to hear that you want to know about Yoga.

Thank you very much for your encouraging words. I entirely agree with you about what you mentioned. Yoga is helpful for us in many ways and there are set rules which needs to be followed.
Great to hear that you practised Yoga in the past and still now doing with your daughter.
I recommend you to write a detailed post about the Yogic postures you practise for back and shoulders. Also, please give some tips about meditation and relaxation of mind.
Thanks for sharing this. Your photo is really beautiful and the statue is so amazing wow! Did you do a session on this day? This place would have been the perfect place to do some outdoor yoga.
I recently started doing yoga more seriously and it definitely helps with the mind and body. I feel much more relaxed and getting more flexible, which definitely is good for joints and bones.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, I did a special Yoga session on International Yoga Day - along with some of my friends through video call.
Yes, Isha Foundation has a huge outdoor area in front of this statue - where people practise Yoga in morning & evening.
Great to hear that you’ve started doing Yoga recently. I would recommend you to try to keep it consistent - it will help you a lot.
For sure! I already feel the difference. What kind of yoga are you doing? I’m actually going on a yoga retreat soon and there we will be doing Ashtanga, which I know is challenging for me, but still it’s a great one.
