I’ve always liked to eat well and cook, consequently I’ve always token pictures of the dishes I prepared or had the opportunity to enjoy at restaurants. I don’t know why, but here in Brazil, in mid-2013, a wave of bitterness and unpleasantness began to condemn anyone who takes food pictures, dozens of news on the subject were broadcasted. The most perverse ones said that people who post food photos must have psychological problems, some restaurants condemned the practice and even prohibited it. Even within my family I suffered resistance, my brother condemned me when I posted photos of my favorite dishes. I don’t understand how a food photo can irritate people.
It turns out that the Local Guide program, allowed me to do this with pleasure and joy, either by assigning grades through evaluations, or by giving tips on restaurants and dishes and thereby helping people to have better experiences through photos and evaluations. Nowadays people around me know how important it is for people to evaluate places and post photos, especially food related. Even my brother likes to read my reviews :). When I return to a restaurant where there is a photo of mine with more than 50,000 or 100,000 views, I make sure to show it to the owner of the establishment, I feel immense pride in helping merchants and entrepreneurs who work with love and seriousness to continue their work.
I like to post my evaluations in details, helping people to find from the best Soho Cupcake in New York (Georgetown;)) to a rich plate of food at a cost of U$ 5 in the center of Santos in São Paulo - Brazil. With each assessment or photo posted on Maps, I am excited and exalted to share it with the world. To my surprise and happiness, the most humble places with low cost meals are the most successful in my profile. In a country like mine, Brazil, where purchasing power is low, this is an encouragement. Helping people to eat well and paying little. Thank you Google!
