If you can only make one US National Park, Yellowstone should be on your list! It is so varied from
geothermal features to
wildlife that can only be seen here to
some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
Summer is the most popular time so it is very crowded at this time of the year. We visited during the month of September, 2018 and there were times when we were the only ones on a path. As October got closer, the weather started to get a lot cooler.
Make sure to add Yellowstone National Park to your bucket list!
Dear @Denise_Barlock ,
I am from Europe and have visited Yellow Stone National park three times over the years. I am into volcanoes and volcanic areas, so no wonder I love Yellow Stone National Park.
Once (end of May/ beginning of June) it was really busy and I remember standing in traffic jams more than once (in some occasions because of bear action). One of my most memorable experiences, however, was going there in winter. I can highly recommend it. Whilst I would normally sleep in a tent, that time I stayed at Old Faithful Lodge and hired a snow-mobile.
Makes sure to hire a snow-mobile that also reverse, because otherwise, you could get into serious trouble with the bison! The experience was amazing. I got up early to leave the lodge as soon as it was light and on many roads, I was the first person there. What an experience. Magic natural beauty, adventure and sooo peaceful and quiet.
@JeroenM Yellowstone is one of our most favorite National Park! We went there again this Fall after being there for a month last year… BUT You have done the one thing on my bucket list that I’ve told everyone that I’d love to do. I truly want to go to Yellowstone in winter and see it via a snowmobile! I’m so glad to hear just how wonderful it can be. I will continue to pursue making that happen one day Thank you!!!
