Yearly Activity During Ied al-Adha

Hi fellas! How are you doing?

Today I wanna share my story of one of activities that do during Ied al-Adha by mostly muslim in Indonesia.

Before, I wanna say Happy Ied al-Adha for all muslims in the world, although it was few days ago??

In ied al-Adha many people sacrifice and another people received a sacrificial meat it can be beef or lamb. When received a sacrificial meat, I usually make satay. Satay is one of the Indonesian dishes [there is also in Malaysia] of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, then served with sauce. In circumstance Ied al-Adha like this, if we go for a walk outside, we can find people who grill satay in front of the house, include me. Hehe.

When I make satay, the first thing to do is clean the meat and cut it into small pieces, then skewer the meat to the bamboo skewers like this.

After being skewered, the meat was grilled above the charcoal or coconut shell that has been burned to heat before. I drop the photos, below.

When satay half-cooked, I coated the meat with soy sauce and grilled back above the coconut shell until the meat cooks perfectly.

The way of make satay for everyone is different, I’m doing what I like to do. Some people just grilled the meat until cooked, and other people like to coat the meat with peanut sauce when it’s half-cooked.

And the last, served it with peanut sauce. You can eat it right away or make it’s as side dish that eaten with rice like me!!

Noted: I’m sorry for bad the second last one, and I forgot to take the other satay and just take a photo of a few satay.

Sooo, this is the ending of story. What about you guys? Do you have a special dish when during special occasion like Ied al-Adha?

Hello @marwahns25 ,

Thank you for sharing these delicious photos with us and presenting the activities in your country around that particular day.

As a person who grew up in Morocco, I am very much aware of this very important celebration. Many various and tasty meals are prepared during the first week following the celebration. On the first day, everything from liver skewers, to heart is cooked on charcoal.

Furthermore, a very special meal called douara, which is basically a mix of tripes, is made for dinner on the day of the celebration. Meat skewers are usually done on the second or third day, as it’s good to leave the meat marinate a bit.

Clearly, this day is heaven for those who love meat!
