Year in Review 2019 : Meet-Up Experience

Hello! Local Guides, my fellows!

It is very important to join Local Guides Meet-Ups besides host. As I said before, it is worth to join a Local guides meet-up to learn and know the Local Guides program DEEPLY. You cant be a complete Local Guide without joining and hosting Meet-Ups with other fellow Local Guides.

Local guides Meet-Ups are the bridge of knowledge sharing and friendship.

It’s my fortune that I became a Local Guide and connected with many big-hearted Local Guides home and abroad. It’s the supreme power of Local Guides meet-Ups and sharing the experience with the whole community. So besides my hosting, I regularly join every meetup arrange nearby me or other cities. So in 2019, I joined many Local Guides meet-Up hosted by fellows. Here in this thread, I will share some of my best Local Guides Meet-Up experience in 2019 where I physically joined.

Let’s see…

  1. Supported Meet-Up: Ornaments of Accessibility by @Kamalhasnainee

Meet-Up type: Accessibility walk, Map Editing.

It was the first Local Guides Meet-Up and our last meet up in 2019. I had the best time with all the amazing Local Guides in Dhaka. It was a huge Meet-Up with about 80+ Local Guides. So we divided 3 groups to mapping Accessibility and missing information. I was one of the Group lead of that Meet-Ups. Group three was under my lead. We checked many buildings, public places accessibility and missing information to make a Maps update during the walk. I got some dedicated and honest minded Local Guides who were very careful about collecting information. Here is the Maps list we found accessibility during the walk. Read more about this Local Guides supported Meet-Up.

  1. Feedback sharing & Food Crawl by @AbdullahAM

Meet-Up type: Feedback Sharing, Food Crawl

This meet up was one of the best meet-Up powered by Local Guides in Dhaka. The host Mamun by organized this with us before his CL19 attendance. We discussed about Maps and Local Guides program finally to make a better Local Maps for all. Connect Moderator @SumaiyaZafrin also joined us and shared his experience with us as a special Guest. Details about this meet-up.

  1. Explore Tangail With Local Guides by @ShahMdSultan

Meet-Up type: Geo Walk, Photo walk.

My first journey to Tangail with some amazing Local Guides explorer. Local Guides are so exclusive about discovering new hidden gems. We explored together & during the geo walk, we visited many travel destinations in Tangail like Mohera Landlord House, Karotia Jamidar Bari & Tangail city. Read more about Moher Landlord House. & also read more about the whole Tangail trip with Local Guides.

  1. Let’s enrich our Local Maps- 3 by @OmarBD

Meet-Up type: Indoor, Introducing Local Guides, Spam free Local Maps.

It was an important Meet-Up with Brittanniya University student in Cumilla. They were very interested to join the community to make a spam-free Google Maps. My pleasure that I was a speaker there among the students. Read more about this Local Guides event.

  1. Map Editing Geo Walk - by @Mohammadalauddin

Meet-Up type: Geo Walk, Photo walk, Accessibility Walk.

This Meet-Up was the best one with some of my fellow Local Guides. We spent a great time with mapping and checking accessibility facilities. During this Meet-Up, we also marked many places with wheelchair accessibility signage. The list of the places we visited during the walk. Read in detail about this Meet-Up.

These are my best 5 Local Guides meet up experience where I joined.

Otherwise, there are more couple of Meet-Ups where I joined where I learned a lot of things and met with so many new and experienced Local Guides in Bangladesh.
