Year-end scene in Japan/

This will be my last post for 2022.
Thanks for reading this year.

In Japan, things change quickly after Christmas.
Christmas trees are put away and New Year’s decorations are displayed to welcome the New Year.

Izutsuya, a department store in Kitakyushu City, intentionally left it this way.

The one on the right is called “shimekazari”.

The entrance door it is placed the shimekazari, a small rope made from rice straws, with carefully crafted zigzag-shaped paper strips called shide.

I introduced this scene because it is unique to Japan, where Japanese and Western cultures are mixed together, and this scene changes over the New Year.
