Xmas Market Under Snow: Montreal Place des Arts

What makes a Merry Christmas? Holidays, family, presents, festival food, hot wine, and SNOW! Though not everywhere snows, it’s definitely a plus for the so-called Xmas atmosphere. And in Montreal (Quebec, Canada), snow is probably the most things people have (along with maple syrups and apples lol). It’s hard not to since winter in Quebec province is almost half a year long.

In today’s article, we focus on the Xmas market held at Place des Arts, the biggest art center in downtown Montreal. As a performing arts appreciator, I’ve visited this place many times to see musicals and ballets. If I must make a list, it’d be one of my most visited places in Montreal. Whenever I visit it, the experience is unique. But still, nothing can compare the winter Xmas market held here, especially on a snowy day.

The photos shown below were taken in 2017. The market should have been held every year in Place des Arts, however, this year (2019), due to construction, it’s unfortunately canceled. We hope they will bring it back next year!

Have you ever visited a Xmas market? Do you like it?

Hi @OlgaKlimchik ,

Haha yes, it’s very different. There’re still Xmas decorations and Xmas trees but no snow. Some fancy stores may even make “fake” snow for the atmosphere. :snowflake:
