Wrong Name of Railway Station on Google Maps – Khandwa Junction

Hello Local Guides,

I’d like to bring attention to a critical naming error on Google Maps related to a major railway station in Madhya Pradesh.

Recently, during my visit to Khandwa Junction, I noticed that the station is incorrectly named as “Khandwa Junctionto Maharsi Gautam Nagar” on Google Maps.

This is misleading and confusing for travelers relying on Maps for navigation or trip planning. The correct name should simply be “Khandwa Junction”, which is the official and widely recognized name by Indian Railways and locals alike.

My Contribution Journey

Just a few days ago, I was happy to complete 5000 edits on Google Maps. That milestone only inspired me to do more. Since then, I’ve actively been working on identifying and correcting:

Wrong place names

Misclassified categories

Duplicate listings

Incorrect locations

I’m also in the process of compiling a list of commonly misused categories, which I plan to share here soon for broader awareness.

Today, I’ve crossed 6000 edits, and during this journey, I found this serious naming bug at Khandwa Junction that truly needs fixing.

What I’ve Tried

I have submitted multiple edit requests to correct the name, but unfortunately, they’ve all been rejected or remain pending.

I believe with community support, this issue can be escalated and resolved faster. So I kindly request fellow Local Guides to:

  1. Search for “Khandwa Junctionto Maharsi Gautam Nagar” on Google Maps.

  2. Suggest an edit to correct the name to “Khandwa Junction”.

  3. In the description, mention it’s the official railway station name as recognized by Indian Railways.

  4. Upvote or confirm any similar edit suggestions made by others.

Edits like these which come under the authority of the city, railways or any other governing body are generally submitted by them directly to Google maps via another tool. In most of the cases you can do nothing about these errors other than reporting them.

Could you edit this place? as @GauravNema mentioned, Railway authority should take action @LovePathak28 . Try giving a letter to the Railway Authorities.

Let me tell you that Google receives transit layer update through the content partners and official authorities. We Local Guides are unable to make any changes in this data as of now.
As I just checked this place and looks like someone has intentionally changed this junction name. Still name in the Hindi language is correct.

Let me help you to correct it. Kindly post this on Google Maps community support forum and share link with me.
