Writing responses and sharing the photos of the places, people know not so much about

I am quite convinced, the most interesting (and quite important) thing I have done as a Local Guide is writing responses and sharing the photos of the places, people don`t know (or know not so much) about.

Here is a story. For two months, from August to October 2019, I was staying in Kiev, the Ukraine, with my grandparents. Someday I`ve decided to make a one day trip with the friend of mine to one small town called Olevsk, where my great-grandfather was born. It is 240 km northwest from Kiev, there are no direct connections with the Ukrainian capital, there are no sightseeing – so, no obvious reason for visiting this town. However, I was really impressed by nature, landscapes and atmosphere of this provincial cite.

My way from Kiev to Olevsk ran through the town Korosten`. I had two hours between the trains and spontaneously I have decided to wander around the town. Eventually I have reached Park Peremohy (Victory Park). I was petrified, how picturesque (and herewith quite brutal!) are these views at the dawn!

Trip to Olevsk was for me a kind of travel in time machine. We came to the town with old dirty soviet diesel train. 90% of the architecture are one-storied brick or wood or wooden house. Some people still use animal transport.

Later we decided to take a late breakfast. We ate in the restaurant called Brooklyn with the awesome view to the river Ubort.

Going back to Kiev we have changed again in Korosten`. We have decided to hang out at the railway station. The lounge and VIP-rooms looks in very soviet-retro style, which impressed me so much.

So, I hope, sharing this story and photos, I will motivate you to explore the Ukrainian province, not only big cities. The world we live in is very interesting and diverse!
