The United Nations, at its General Assembly in November 2014, declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day. The aim of WYSD is to recognize the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, and to highlight the crucial role of skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges.
Do you know?
Globally, one in five young people are NEET: Not in Employment, Education or Training. Three out of four of young NEETs are women. UNESCO currently estimates that nearly 70% of the world’s learners are affected by school closures across education levels and more than 1 in 6 young people are out of work due to COVID-19.
I would like to thank Google Local Guides for giving us the opportunity to enrich youth skill through various free online classes. Read this post from Googler @KatieMcBroom Expand your mind with these free online classes
What I am trying to do for promoting Youth Skills?
I am running many impact-driven projects and organising career talks, coding sessions, providing information, training, meeting with government and non-government educational institutions to promote access to youth skills.
Especially for youths, I am focusing on ensuring technical skills development, easy access to TVET (technical and vocational education and training), innovation, entrepreneurship and eliminating gender disparity across the globe. My initiative especially targets girls and young women from secondary schools and colleges who are interested in ICT and STEM. My dream includes a pledge that no one will be left behind.
I believe that Google Local Guides can be a great platform for promoting youth Skills in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond. What you think, do a comments bellow.
