Word well and advice carefully, this isn't Kansas anymore

Tell us what you love sharing most on Google Maps and why. Whether you’re passionate about finding the world’s best French fries or making the map more eco-friendly, we want to know about it!

Oh my, well… where does one start? So many things to publish and so little time. I guess for me I like sharing the updates to the maps, finding new or previously unknown locations and adding them. I love the sense of excitement when I tell business that I added them to the map and watch their business grow. People think its neat and because we now work in a multi-generational environment, it helps fill some of the disconnect between different generations of people.

Sometimes, I feel like an investigative journalist when I find something thats not correct or right with a business. When I add or request changes to maps, I like to be detailed as I can to provide the best information possible, it makes the jobs of others a bit easier and hopefully fills in the critical points and enables a solid product.

Case in point, I moved into a new apartment in my last city and on my first night, wanted to order pizza. So I “googled” pizza, found what I wanted and gave them my address. Come to find out, they where unable to find it on a the map! Needless to say I had to go pick-up myself, but I found that irritating. So, I learned about becoming a google guide and fixed it myself, I even included our new shopping center and business across the street, phone numbers, hours and photos.

I have several passions, but fixing whats wrong and making it right is something I do, but sometimes I feel like I discovered a hidden talent for a profession I didn’t know existed. I’m not that advanced yet in levels yet, but i like to take my time in giving local guide advice. I’ve found the advice we give as local guides is taken seriously, but more importantly, has an impact that reaches further than than our screens. We affect local economies and set a standard of what appears to be important to your community, yourself or simply put, nothing at all. I also like to point out whats not right and what is okay.

I’ll definitely add (when the opportunity comes about) the “dont do this”, “eat that, not this”, “this place isn’t here anymore”, etc. Sometimes I have to be the bearer of bad news or provide bad reviews, but I feel it keeps some my community in-check and saves us all some time, money and energy.

Well… that got real deep real quick. However, this is what I like sharing on google-maps, that is why I guide.

Thanks for reading.
