Wonderland Iceland

My recent and last travel before coronaviruse situation, took place on Iceland. The main goal of this quick 3 days trip was to explore beautiful nature of this country which I explored for the first time. I have already visited many countries in variety continents, and after making some research and watched thousands of photos from Iceland my expectation was very high and frankly speaking for the first time I was not disappointed, even more I was completely overwhelmed of this unique, harsh, and empty landscape. Iceland is absolutely amazing even during the winter time when the cold is really freezing.

I began the trip at the late Friday evening by landing on the Keflavik airport. From the very beginning even view from the plane was extraordinary

I need to admit it was great to arrive at night, when the visibility was limited, on the next morning the perception of the surroundings was very deep.

For the first view point I chosen Old Arkanes Lighthouse, lovely place with beauty view on the ocean.

Then I moved to Hvalfjörður View Point by the road with amazing landscapes of fjord and mountains, it is really worth to choose this path especially when weather is good.

Next stop took place on Geysir which is-perfect localization for watching geysers eruptions. The Strokkur geysir is erupting around each 15 minutes during the winter.

After this I went to one of the most popular icelandic waterfall Gullfoss which is located on Hvita river, around 100 km from Reykiavik.

The last but not least stop was the Kerio, which is volcanic crater lake. During the winter because the lak eis frozen, view is not very spectacular, but still it is nice place to visit.

The next day I woke up on the very morning to get to the Jokulsarlon Glacier which was one of the most amazing experience which I have ever had, and I can recommend this place as a must see in Iceland. The best way to see the glacier ice caves is to buy the trip, there is really broad range of offers, for most of them the meeting point is near the Glacier Lagoon. From there the guides are taking groups to the glacier, it is hard to get there with normal car.

For me this quick exploring the Iceland was for sure unique experience, mainly because of such different perspectives and nature miracles. Endless roads with harsh landscapes and emptiness, wild animals, and simply architecture
