With G Free Legacy Suite ending, I'm going to lose all contributions to Google Maps

Hello everyone

I have been actively contributing in my country Mauritius, reaching level 6 with over 3700 points and nearly 200 reviews, thus probably topping in terms of top reviewers in the country. However, I have been signing in with my google account from a free G Legacy Suite, formerly G Apps. Now, with Google announcing that the free suite will be paying as from May/June 2022, I am actively looking for alternatives, for example, moving my emails backup, photos etc to a free Gmail account and to a Microsoft 365 Family for email handling.

Looks like I am going to lose all my work on Google Maps as I have not found any way to transfer content from that G Legacy account to another Gmail account yet.

If Google does not provide a way to migrate all this hard work which took months and years to build, this is really going to be tough.

After this experience, I do not think that I will continue contributing with a fresh account. from scratch.

Anyone with suggestions or perhaps Google can think about migrating the Google Maps contributions?

Thanks

Szivből gratulálok, nagyon ügyes vagy. Gyönyörű helyen élsz. Egyik kedvencem. Sajnos csak álom. Olyan spknz kell oda utazni.   :cocktail: :cocktail: :bouquet: Kitartást. Valamit biztosan ki fognak találni… Írj több helyre…

Köszönöm

Hi @yashvinawootar you can retrieve your content from https://takeout.google.com/ and leave the program from the GSuite account before it is deleted. The content won’t get deleted from Maps it will remain.

There is no way to transfer from one account to another except through takeout and re-uploading. It has never been valid to use a non private account as a Local Guide.

While this is frustrating and unfortunate its up to you to make sure you understand the terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up to the Local Guides program.

Hi Paul

Just wanna add that the email subscribed on the G Legacy Suite is actually a private account, not one linked to a company or other. I used GSuite for years for my family to handle mail and other provided facilities, like probably thousand of other G Legacy Suite users…

Just an update :

On May 2022, Google has activated the free-no-cost option for personal usage.

This means that people having G-Suite Legacy for strictly personal usages are able to keep their accounts and everything linked (including Google Maps contributions and history).
