Winter approaches at my allotment In City of Espoo, Finland

My allotment is on a north-facing hillside where I grow vegetables and fruit. I rent the hectare from Espoo city. The city provides water pipes and taps so that on the hot dry summer days I can water my crops and scare away the rabbits and hares. You can see my bicycle which I use to get home about 15 minutes away in Lahderanta.

It’s winter now so the plot is covered with a few feet of snow.

The red and blackcurrant bushes produce well although they attract the local wildlife, especially the blackbirds. The place is named Rastaala C, due to the blackbirds you can see it on Google maps. There are about 40 plots on the east side of the road and more on the west side or Rastaala B. The photo was taken in October 2022, I hope you can see and enjoy the beautiful nordic twilight colours.

Soon I will start preparing the ground for spring planting of lettuce, beans and courgettes.
