Will Google review be a social justice tool?

I’ve seen this before, but recently due to COVID 19, this has happened more frequently now…

So here is the scenario: someone was racially abused in real life or on Facebook for example. He then found out the abuser is a local business owner. He and his friends started to give that business negative reviews…

This is not the right thing to do obviously. As a Local Guides, what can we do?

Hello @OliverKIWI ,

It is sad. We Japanese are sometimes praised, but very often receive racial discrimination from foreign countries. So nervous about this problem.

What we can do is thoroughly report the article to Google on a map. Google does not tolerate all malice. Accounts will be frozen, whether in their Google business or Local Guides. Therefore, we ideally report very coldly.

I have a post that predicts that the coronavirus will induce mental confusion.

#Coronavirus - Now is the time to learn Risk Communication

Thank you.

@OliverKIWI it is very dangerous to have your real name on any social media. People should make up a nickname. That way reviews can be anonymous, such as mine.

@TheEagleEye You are right! I saw a post two days ago some LG asking if they should post their own photos on Google Maps. I wouldn’t do that at all. But leaving your real name can be a big problem as well. Are we able to change it? Thank you for your tips!

Many thanx! @TheEagleEye I will try that! BTW, are you coming back, we should meet up:)

No plan to return to NZ yet @OliverKIWI , although I have visited every year. My daughter lives there as do other family members. My wife and I do want to return when the time is right.

You can report them @OliverKIWI if it is a single person do it through Maps, if it seems to be organised as in your example then post onto the How-To topic with “I need to report a Local Guide” and give the scenario but don’t identify anyone and a Googler will be in touch for the details.
