Will a link from Google Maps to LG Connect bring more awareness? - TravellerG

Friends,

Connect users are aware that our community members are a very small percentage when compared to Google Maps LGs - right? The fact is that most of the Maps users are ignorant about our Connect.

I request your ideas to increase Connect membership & in turn, this will increase the activities in the forum; I have a few suggestions, which will have other benefits also.

Option: 1

If we create a Menu (or a link) in Google Maps App/PC to directly access the LG Connect, will it be effective and/ or useful to add more members in Connect?

According to me, there are many benefits for this method and some of the important ones are:

• If we provide this menu under the “Contribute” Menu of Google Maps App/PC, then many Maps users will see the Menu and that will tempt them to join the Connect.
• This menu also will help to quickly switch over from Google Maps to LG connect.
• This may be a reminder to LGs to visit Connect, who are not frequent visitors.
• Many LGs forget their login details as they may not use connect frequently - for such people, this menu will be a guaranteed location, if they need to visit Connect.

But, even if we start this exercise here today, we do not know when it will happen…right?

I am trying to bring out what is in my mind - let it happen in its own way.

I’m not sure that it’s a fact that “most of the Maps users are ignorant about our Connect”. For example many may simply not see any benefit or wish to participate. However, given that we have a link in Connect to go to Maps I see no harm in the reverse and as you say, it might increase Connect membership. However, your idea has been muted before and while it generated a lot of interest, it was not implemented.

Imho, most of Local Guides are aware about this forum, Connect. Because Google are sending e-mail about Connect’s topics, etc., regularly.

But do providing direct link to Connect could improve participation rate in this forum? I don’t think it’s that simple. Imho.
