The U-turn and median gap at the above location is fully open and accessible, yet it is marked as closed on Google Maps. This is not an isolated issue — there are dozens, possibly hundreds, of similar fake road closures in the region, especially at U-turns and median breaks.
Impact:
These closures are misleading commuters, forcing them into unnecessary detours, increasing fuel consumption, and causing delays.
Navigation-based services and delivery apps (like Swiggy and Zomato) are affected, with locations appearing much farther than they actually are. One instance: a hotel just 2 km away is shown as 10.5 km away due to false routing.
Visitors and commuters from other regions, who rely solely on Google Maps, are especially vulnerable.
This appears to be a case of intentional misuse, likely by some food delivery partners trying to manipulate routes and increase delivery distances for higher earnings.
Reporting Experience:
I have reported several such instances via “Suggest an edit”, but they have not been accepted.
I have also created multiple posts in the Google Maps Community, none of which led to resolution or escalation.
I am willing to provide photo/video evidence showing that these U-turns are indeed open.
Request for Action:
Please escalate this issue for a broader review of road closures in this region. A manual audit or pattern detection may help uncover the systematic misuse of the road reporting feature. Accurate navigation data is vital for both public use and business operations.
Thank you for your time and attention.

Hey @Rahul_Madhyastha i tag one of our connect moderator & strong experience localGuide in road editing, @ErmesT sir, looks this issue & provide the right solution .
Thanks
This method doesn’t work. I’m doing this from past 1 year. This is a serious issue. You can check it by clicking link which I shared in my initial post.
Hope everyone else understood the weightage of the issue, which made me to come here.
I’ve also tweeted the issue tagging Google, but no use.
Thank you for the tag, @ShailendraOjha
Welcome to Connect and thank hank you for your post, @Rahul_Madhyastha .
In fact this seems to be a massive attack
Of course everyone of us have the possibility, knowing the real situation of a road, to deny the closure status, but there is no warranty that it works.
A road closure can be reported
by an official partner (a local government officer) through a specific procedure, or by users, like it appears on the screenshot shared here.
by suggesting an edit (that seems to be the method used here)
by reporting the closure while driving, with Google Maps on navigation mode
As this seems to be an attack, and all the reports that I checked where confirmed just 4 minutes ago, I will escalate it immediately to @MoniDi , to quickly reach the Google Maps team for fixing the issue and identifying the people behind this action.
Hope it will be fixed quickly
Thanks a lot. @ErmesT@MoniDi We are suffering here a lot by these false reporting of road closures. This also misguides the tourists/commuters on this way.
Moreover, this is not just on the highway, but also on the interior roads in this region. As per my primary investigation these are done by food delivery agents. (Zomato, Swiggy etc)
I hope this issue will get resolved at the earliest.
Hi @Rahul_Madhyastha
As you know @MoniDi escalated it to the team.
An accurate investigation may take time, because before to reopen a closed road they must be sure that the road is really open. And they may or may not be able to share a feedback with us.
If the action is fraudulent, as it involves a lot of contributors, may also be not publicly shared
Please be advised that the relevant team shared that the issue has been fixed but do let me know if you see any other closed roads and share Google Maps links to the locations.
Thank you for your previous update. However, I’d like to clarify that the issue is still unresolved.
Most of the links I’ve shared point to U-turns on the National Highway that are permanently open and are not subject to closures under normal circumstances. These are essential for daily traffic flow and their incorrect closure on the map is causing severe inconvenience for thousands of commuters.
This is extremely frustrating. These repeated false reports are misleading users and potentially causing real-world inconvenience and safety issues.
I kindly urge the moderation team to:
Take strict action against those repeatedly submitting false reports.
Consider implementing additional safeguards in Google Maps to prevent such misuse in the future.
As a local contributor, I’m fed up with having to constantly monitor and correct this kind of malicious editing. Thank you for your attention and help in resolving this matter.
