Why we women are traveling?

Wanderlust is not a passion for travel exactly; it’s something more animal and more fickle - something more like lust. We don’t lust after many things in life. We don’t need words like worklust or homemakinglust. Says Elisabeth Eaves in her book, Wanderlust: A Love Affair with Five Continents. I can only remember these beautiful ladies’s midnight talk while reading this. We were a group of few ladies from different part of Northern Kerala. There were married one, mother of two, school and college students as well and so on. Most of them were new to all these things. The way they chase the wind was so unique, which ultimately added more wieght to memmories . Few of them cried out of happiness after the trip , few of them were planing next trip from the hill top itself, few of them weren’t ready to accept the reality that they are not dreaming anymore and the continuous amusement continues!
For us, the women, the stories are not always of flying but falling too. But it’s the belief that we, the women are there for ourselves with the strength summoned from structural injustice and the social ignorance fuel the journeys. So for us, it’s not as simple as planning and packing. It’s the strong decision of a girl to cross the salty sea determined by the society and to make a sweet story out of it. We feel the same, but the stories are distinct. That makes the way unique.
