Why WE [Local Guides] Have To Do All The Hard Work For Maps Free?

I’m very bored and angry that WE local guides have to see lot of effort to do Google maps better than it is and what Google give us??? Local guiden levels that require hard working on maps, level 9 I think I never reache.

Why there ain’t anything for us who makes Google Maps millions times better?? Google just use us to make profit for themselves, that’s not even close fair.

Why Google can’t give even free services for us, example Google AI Pro, Workspace etc

We do LOT of work and efforts to make Google maps better every single day

You don’t have to make contributions. The volunteer aspect goes both ways.

Hi @MarkoRaty !

And welcome back to Connect!

I can understand your disappointment. But the goal of the Local Guides program isn’t to make a financial profit, but rather to be aware that we’re helping thousands (!) of people discover new places or make better choices when it comes to choosing where to eat, where to shop, and finding the best local experiences!

And if you think about how all our contributions can influence and help others choose the best place or the best experience… all this is priceless and repays our commitment to always continue to give the best of our contributions.

Bye,

David

So why to make these hard level goals then, not make any sense to me

It’s thanks to the consistency and quality of your contributions that you advance in the Local Guide program. You can earn exclusive badges, but above all, you become more “reliable” when you submit changes to Maps for locations in the app.
Sometimes, progressing from one level to the next can take a year or more, but it’s not a race to see who gets there first. I think it took me seven years to reach level 10: you have no idea how many wonderful Local Guides I’ve met on this journey!

Hi,

We contribute for free and people use maps for free. fare enough.

If you want to boost your level add roads!

Regards,

Level 8 took 9,5 years to me.

I never met any other local guides but that’s great you met them and perhaps came good friends with some of them too :+1:t3:

In Thailand I’ve add once, also cancel some parts of roads, but it’s pain in a butt in here to stop in this traffic to start making adding etc, thanks anyway

I just spoke my mind, that goes both ways too :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Levels became too difficult to reach, and I understand the idea for that and that is that people have to make as many reviews as possible and take thousands of photos before get level 8-10 that’s little bit harsh I say because we do this voluntarily but yet make it harder and harder get up the levels.

I bet I can disagree if I feel so?

There’s always a first time, even if you’re attending a meetup near you to make new friends: Local Guide meet-up!

I feel u… But this was our undertaking to be a local guide without frills… And in the clause as stated it has no monetary benefit… BUT it gives u recognition and perks if ur lucky enough… I reckon that u become active on connect and ur efforts will bear :pineapple::red_apple::strawberry::grapes:… Cheers mate…

You’re Level 8 @MarkoRaty. I thought this was an impossible journey when I was at Level 7. Now I’m at Level 10 and I’m not bored. Unfortunately, you neglected or declined to activate your Google Maps link in your Connect profile, so I can’t see what types of contributions you do most. What I found is that as the years went by, I discovered new ways to contribute, so that I actually got from Level 9 to 10 much faster than from Level 8 to 9.
