Recently I started noticing that aerial views can be this much interesting when I was exploring 6 month old photos that I took from Village in Bhavnagar.
Now I think that this can be used for better understanding of landscape design and navigation of any public places.
So just wanted to share that if anyone has drone try this 90* degree shot on any place that has beautiful planning, result might shock you and the viewers.
I took a look at your most recent two 360 drone shots and notices you put text signs on them and even the logo of a building complex.
I think your shots are great but I’m unsure if these should be shared on Google Maps. I recall @PaulPavlinovich mentioning that 360 shots from much above eye height will be removed. I might be wrong, but hopefully Paul will step in and correct me and explain if I’m wrong.
Where I live such arial shots are provided by Google and they are aligned nicely with the map.
Your 360 photo of Mandva also seems to be uploaded to a city.
I noticed it, I have deleted that image with logo, rest of them are fine without any kind of logo or something on it.
Okay I got it but I have seen hundreds of 360 drone shots from much above height on maps, that’s why google shouldn’t have any issue with the image I have shot from above.
Hi @iparthsavani and @MortenCopenhagen there is no written guidance on the height, but generally a 360 is expected to be centred roughly 1.8m from the ground. Lots that are not this height seem to get removed and lots seem to say.
Wow, thanks for this info @MortenCopenhagen@PaulPavlinovich ! I have quite a few aerial 360 that i haven’t uploaded but i guess with this information i’ll review with the guidelines before uploading
However, I think he made mention of just aerial shots at 90° (like a top-down shot) not a 360. Is that supposed to be within the range of 2m downwards?
The guidance varies @Nuhuu I’ve talked to some member s of the Maps team who recommend to not contribute aerial photos and others who suggest its ok. There is a caveat from the ones who say its ok, they say to make sure it clearly highlights one place that is on the Map. A general shot of several buildings does not meet that requirement.
