The answer is, because they are so yummy. Today, I am going to introduce you a local place which is very popular with its dessert. It’s probably the best of its kind. The local name of the dessert is “lokma.” It means bite.
Lokma’s small round shape makes you to crave for that. It may remind you of a miniaturized doughnut. You just want to bite them in a second. You need to be careful, because it’s laden with high calories due to its sweet juice made with sugar. If you want to get rid of the calories you made I would highly recommend you to go for a long walk after eating lokma.
Regarding the place… It’s in Cengelkoy which is in the residential district of Uskudar in Istanbul. It’s by the sea. In fact, you can see a beautiful view of Bosphorus right across. It’s not a pricy place. You can afford even if you are planning to treat some people there. Not long ago, I and my mum went there. I treated mum a small portion of lokma and she absolutely loved it. Then, we drank a cup of Turkish tea, without sugar.
It’s important to share this story for me, because I believe that this shop still does not get as many customers as they deserve although it’s in a popular location.
