I am Babela posting from Nairobi Kenya. Here we have a lot to carry the camera for. With a National Park a few kilometers from the City Center, there’s a lot to snap. However, for a Local Guide starter it’s not always easy. Moving around takes a lot of time and resources and if it is not in line with your daily career calls, it is often not easy.
Starting as a Novice Local Guide in Nairobi, I wanted people to benefit from that which I was benefiting. Coming to the City at a time smartphones were out of reach, it was commonplace to get lost in the many streets and similar blocks punctuating the terrain. I came to Nairobi primarily to study. It was not easy going out of campus into town without someone who knows around. At one time I got lost and walked several kilometers, at each turn asking strangers where my campus was! Don’t forget it is not safe to ask any stranger for directions! Google Maps is a great innovation that today has solved this for not only newcomers into the city but also city dwellers who need to explore the vast amenities city life offers.
But today you don’t have to worry about that. Almost everyone in Nairobi has a smartphone and can easily get around. However not all places are covered on the map. This is what inspired me to start posting my reviews, new places, and helping people get around after finishing the 26 modules of Online Marketing Fundamentals in December 2017.
My joy is made complete when I see views of my posts, photos and reviews. That means someone got around more easily than they would without Google Maps. At the same time, time was saved, and undoubtedly resources too. This is my understanding of being a human being; making life easier for others, even those you do not know.
