I started using Google Maps almost five years ago, as soon as I started moving in the city and traveling on my own. Madrid, where I live, is a huge city with thousands of places to go, and knowing them all definitely takes a lot of time and experience. That’s why Google Maps turned out to be so helpful to me. And not only as a way of going to different places but as a way of knowing about them even before being there.
The Local Guides community is such an awesome place to discover new places that I couldn’t resist but becoming a member of the community. Madrid is full of places to have a quick snack any time of the day and I find myself going to a lot of them with friends almost everyday. That’s why I felt that I had something to tell about all those places, and Google Maps was the right place to do it.
I actually find quite enjoyable looking how people use my photos and reviews as a way to discover new places in the city, and that pushes me even further into taking better photographs every time and trying to be as helpful as possible. It’s like a very socially healthy way of being part of the city!
