As we have been told,it’s either local operators or an automated system verifies your edit. Sometimes you’ll need to be patient. Lots of work goes on behind the curtains of the IT staff.

Adding a place is not very difficult, if you add it following the proper procedures summarised in the article shared by @SholaIB .
What does it mean? It basically means that a place, to be approved, need to be verified according to the digital footprint that Google can find online.
When I say online I mean in public directories. In fact the website if a business cannot be considered an online reference, because it can be built just to scan the users.
A good practice is to make sure that all the information that you are adding are available online before to try to add/edit a place.
In addition let say that the only photo added by you in Maps is not a good reference. I think you should remove it
