Why is a post's last photo shown in post thumbnail?

Why is the last embedded photo being shown as the feature photo in post thumbnails on home pages as in this example, I would think that the first photo should be shown in thumbnails!

Hi @AdamGT

This was tested in a lot of posts recently. And it was concluded that the first was used for the thumbnail if pics are uploaded the normal way (within the 1000 limit) and the last pic when using the scr/html trick.

Cheers

Morten

Hello @MortenCopenhagen

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t see the test posts that you refer to or previous mention of this different treatment of order however if what you are saying is that my observation is consistent with the previous conclusion of others then I hope that this inconsistency is on the Connect team’s to-do-list.

I agree with you @AdamGT

It makes little or no sense as it is now.

Cheers

PS are you still planing to do a follow up on views of the master photos. Mine is still ticking away at a high pace.

Yes @MortenCopenhagen I think you are right that this has been a known issue and test posts are around because I have seen posts that duplicate the first and last image as a workaround :disappointed:

Sorry @MortenCopenhagen I missed your ps as we posted our last messages at exactly the same time. However, it’s good to hear that your star photo is turning into a superstar and to answer your question, yes indeed. For the benefit of the Local Guides involved in the most viewed photos post and who may not see this post, I’d be happy to elaborate if you were to pose your question there.

@AdamGT I had posted similar question. You can look at the answer I got from other LGs.

Just like @MortenCopenhagen mentioned my star photo is performing much better, got 1.5M more views since your initial post. Let me know if you have plans to update. Will update the stats.

Thank you for that @jayasimha78 I have checked out the responses in that link and have commented there about the proposed “solution”.

Thank you for that @jayasimha78 , I have checked out the responses in the post you referred me to and have commented there about the proposed “solution”.

Regarding your comment about your star photo which also sounds like it’s turning into a super star, as I mentioned in my reply above to @MortenCopenhagen, indeed I do you have plans to update the stats and in fact, for sometime had plans to do something along these lines (see this comment). For the benefit of all who may not see the comments about this here, I’ve just elaborated on what my plans are in Q&A #4 on the post, so do stay tuned there!

The test posts were moved to off topic @AdamGT as they exhibited an unnecessary set of tests for circumstances already well known.

Yes it recall that it was fixed some time ago and I’m sorry that I did’t mention this @jayasimha78 when I discovered that it was fixed.
