Hello Everyone!
I am Krishna Prasad Bhusal from Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, I am a local guide of level 7. Here I am going to share why I am here and what motivates me to keep going as an active contributor of google maps here in my locality.
As you know that Nepal is an underdeveloped country. Most of the people here are still unknown about what google map is, how it works and how could they be benefited? We, who are more familiar with this stuff use it often. I used to navigate different places and used to get several information about local businesses and places prior to going there. I was benefited a lot. But, so often I even got disappointed by wrong information I found on search. Then I contemplated upon why this happens and how to fix it? Then onward I came to realize that most of the information is updated by novice local guides. So I decided to serve myself as a local guide so that other people travelling as per the information they found on map won’t be disappointed with misleading information.
In google maps I am passionate on adding and editing information about places which are important to public. May be information about streets, public parks, hotels, restaurants, pubs, schools, hospitals etc. Places which are often visited by general public. My major concern is making map better by adding as much information as possible and making sure that the information already updated is correct and updated. For this mission I would like to partner with nearly hundred spontaneous and fresh volunteers from different parts of my country/city who could actively volunteer in adding and editing information that matters most.
My concern would be not only to create new local guides but also to get connected with existing local guides by organizing meetups and other activities. So that a collective effort of a team could benefit people who navigate through maps.
Last but not the least, Adding and editing information won’t suffice, I have a passion of spreading message of benefits of google map to people. They are to be encouraged a lot about using maps which could make their life lot easier.
We’re resident of this least developed country BUT this is OUR responsibility to digitize people’s lives and uplift their lifestyle. I am passionate on all these stuffs, because this is how we can help people with zero investment and by utilizing our spare time. And, this is what I expect from other volunteers.
Thanks.
Regards
