It begins with idea to help small business to be seen on Google maps. I have small business. Somebody putted it on Google maps long time ago. One customer gave 5 stars 5 years ago. I felt wonderfully by receiving this high point. After some time people began to find me on Google maps. The most customers find me there. I’m happy now about my rating and possibility to be seen to world. I understood if I’ll help to other small companies to be seen on Google maps, they will have more customers. Increasing of customers prevents companies from broke. 98% new companies fail during first 5 business years. Bankruptcy means loss of jobs to employees. So, when I put small companies on Google maps it helps them to survive and it helps to save jobs for employees.
When I returned from Connect live 2018, I asked myself “is there more reasons why I am the Local guide?” I found out one more reason. Google translates our reviews in all languages. Google maps show me reviews in my own language at first, then reviews in other languages. So, when I travel abroad and write reviews in my own language, Lithuanian people see them first. It means when I write reviews in Lithuanian, I help to people from my country to get information in their own language. That’s amazing! It helps me feel excited, because I do something good for people of my country and for all people of the world. Write reviews in your own language and Google maps will translate them for me!
Now I want to tell you a story how my contributing on Google maps helped me personally. I’ve got common cold year ago. I came to duty doctor to get some medicines. Doctor made prescription. It was Saturday evening, 8pm. But usually pharmacies work till 7pm, on working days. It is very difficult to find working pharmacy at Saturday evening. I looked into Google maps for searching of working pharmacy and found one. Pharmacy was near clinic where I’ve got prescription. Searching was easy, about 2 minutes. But it was unusual pharmacy, because I’ve put this pharmacy on Google maps some time ago and forgot about it. If I’ve not put this pharmacy on Google maps, I wouldn’t find it, nobody could find it. I’ve put this pharmacy for people wellbeing, but I was personally that man who needed this pharmacy very much. You don’t know when your good contributing will help you personally.
