Hi everyone,
I am Saira, a Level 7 Local Guide from Pakistan. My husband and I love to travel, we are lucky in the sense that due to his business, we get many chances to see the world. Moreover, now with the kids not kids anymore, it’s easier to do so. I discovered the Local Guides program by accident several years ago - honestly, I don’t even remember how. However, it has helped me tremendously during my travels and by contributing to it I feel like I am giving back to the community, and helping others like I have been helped. Furthermore, it also lets me be a part of a healthy competition!
Many a times when we have to stop on our road trips, we can consult Google Maps and see where our next stop is and how good it is. Most importantly, it also shows us where we can find local good restaurants! I’ve always enjoyed looking up reviews and photos before we visit a place, and seeing how someone else’s effort in putting up the information has helped me so much, I couldn’t help but do the same in return.
Recently, I have also developed trouble in my knees and the doctor has advised me to avoid stairs. Even though I love to walk and continue to enjoy doing so, I have to look for signs where there is accessibility for people like me - since I cannot use stairs, I need ramps, elevators or escalators. Google Maps has been a lifesaver for me in this regard - I honestly don’t think I could have travelled as often as I do if it had not been for this amazing feature! Little things like this continue to motivate me to give back to this amazing app, and make it useful for other people as well.
With the help of Google Maps, travelling has become so much more fun, and so much easier. It’s not just an app - it’s an entire community, and it’s a lifesaver. Thank you Google!
