Being a local guide from Pune, India. It is natural that I am more into sharing heritage places on google maps. Why ? because of Pune’s mention in many stories of the Maratha Empire as well as Pune was one of the most vital city during the war for The independence of India. There are many palaces in the city knows as WADA in the Marathi language which are proofs of this courageous history. For eg - Shaniwar Wada, Vishrambag Wada, Lal Mahal.and the most beautiful thing about this heritage sites is that they are situated right in the middle of the city so they are easily accessible to tourist if they know way (which is the most difficult thing also because of the small and confusing lanes of Pune.)and believe me or not …You must visit these heritage places because these places can talk!
I was always interested in these heritage places because I think that when some person experiences history, then that history might get vanish with the person but when a structure is proof of history when a place is the only proof of that ancient era then that history, that story lives with that place. And when we Visit that place. it is nothing but telling us a story about that era it had experienced. The scars on the walls telling us the pain of that place, the collapsed walls telling us the age of that place and each and every brick or stone of that place is helping us to know the place better. And that’s why I think these places can talk to us, they can tell the story to us. And that’s why I love sharing Photos and reviews on google maps about heritage sites.
By sharing information and photos about these heritage sites not only helps to tourist but also helps to locals to know more about their own city and maintain and protect this heritage sites from vanishing and protecting our history. last week I shared a review about one dying place which was situated at Riverside and has some history .it was an ancient temple where the Royal family used to come for prayer after the death of any relative.but when I visited this place. it was very dirty, not properly maintain in short the story was dying with this place. I shared a review on google maps about this place and many people reached asking about what they can do about this? they were interested to save and protect this place before its too late. I felt very thankful to google that day to give us a platform like google maps to raise our voice and make this world more beautiful for all of us .!
besides heritage sites, I also love to upload food places, entertainment places but history is, was and always will be my favorite because heritage places are the best conversationist. At the end of the day, we are what we are because of our history and we should always protect it from vanishing.
