Contributing on Google maps Local Guides Program gives me such joy and a sense of fulfilment in that I am able to assist other people in my locality, other areas in my country and the world at large to easily locate places and also give them vital information about the operating hours and how accessible the places they intend to visit are through pictures and reviews. By contributing pictures of the places I visit on Google Local Guides Program, it helps others to have a picture of the places way before they even visit, which I think is exciting and creates interest in others to visit the places.
Been a citizen in a developing African country, which is Zambia, where Internet penetration levels are still relatively low, the work of a Google local guide like me becomes very vital as most Google Maps for areas in my country have very limited information and sometimes inaccurate and misleading information. This is the more reason I am very passionate and dedicated to contributing as much information and details on the Local Guides Program. This is helps millions of people to have access to accurate information which enables them to travel easily and explore the beautiful country.
It’s also very gratifying to be able to help small business start-ups get listed on the Google maps; this increases their visibility and hopefully translates into increased business revenues. Through my pictures contributions on Local Guides program, I have been able to continue honing my photography skills.
The Local Guides Program to me means an exciting and safe community which gives opportunities to participate in healthy competition with other contributors. It gives me great thrill and pleasure when I receive emails from Google Local Guides telling me how impactful my contributions have been and how so many people have viewed and benefited from my pictures. This Local Guides contributions platform also helps me to connect and make friends with people from across the world and appreciate our diversity in cultures and lifestyles which is very important in fostering global collaborations and peace. As a travel enthusiast who has so far just done local travels but have plans to travel internationally some day, networking and making friends across the world is something I greatly enjoy.
